About Career

Are you fascinated by space? Do you also love working with machines? Would you like to study and design machines that can fly? If yes, you should consider a career in aerospace engineer.

Aerospace engineering is a field that studies the design, operation and construction of an aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, rockets, space shuttle, etc.

Aerospace engineering has two sub-branches,

1.Aeronautical engineering - This engineering involves designing and construction of aircraft such as gliders, fixed-wing aeroplanes, jets, and helicopters.

2. Astronautical engineering- This engineering deals with the design and development of spacecraft. This type of engineering is also known as rocket science.

Aerospace Engineering consists of several engineering subjects such as mechanical engineering, computer sciences, graphics and designing, mathematical modelling, drafting, electronics, robotics, aeronautics etc.

Example:

  • Wright Brothers created the first aeroplane that could carry humans.
  • Wernher von Braun is considered the leading figure in the development of rocket technology and space travel in the 20th century.

What are the roles and responsibilities for Aeronautical engineer?

    • Aeronautical engineers design, develop and maintain aircraft to ensure a high level of technical precision and safe operations.
    • Direct and coordinate the design, manufacture, and testing of aircraft and aerospace product
    • Assess proposals for projects to determine if they are technically and financially feasible
    • Determine if proposed projects will result in safe operations that meet the defined goals.
    • Evaluate designs to see that the products meet engineering principles, customer requirements, and environmental regulations
    • Develop acceptance criteria for design methods, quality standards, sustainment after delivery, and completion dates.
    • Ensure that projects meet quality standards.
    • Inspect malfunctioning or damaged products to identify sources of problems and possible solutions.
